Extruded Magnesium Anodes
For Specialized Protection
Magnesium anodes have the highest protection capacity of any galvanic materials. While these anodes are most commonly used in the cast metal form, certain structures can be protected through the use of extruded magnesium configurations. Extruded magnesium anodes have high and length ratios in relation of current per weight than their cast magnesium counterparts. Because of supplying more current extruded anodes can deliver effective protection to structures buried in even highly resistive electrolytes.
Typical Forms
XCTAT offers a full line of certified extruded magnesium anodes in both rod and ribbon forms.  Both the rod and ribbon anodes are constructed with a solid steel core which runs lengthwise through the anodes for efficient electrical discharge.
XCTAT rod anodes are available in high potential (high purity magnesium) (-1.77- -1.82 V) (with respect to Cu/CuSO4 reference electrode) and low potential (AZ31 alloy) (-1.57- -1.67 V) (with respect to Cu/CuSO4 reference electrode). They are furnished with a variety of connection options and offered in numerous diameters.
XCTAT ribbon anodes are manufactured in 3/4" x 3/8" flexible coils which can be easily shaped for use on a multitude of protection projects. The ribbon anode is composed of a high purity magnesium which produces an open circuit potential of -1.77- -1.82 V(with respect to Cu/CuSO4 reference electrode).
