Electrical resistivities are usually much low in salt water environments, relatively speaking, aluminum anodes are the most economical choice for corrosion protection. The anode offers higher current efficiency and lower anode consumption than magnesium and zinc anodes in salt water areas, so aluminum anodes are ideal protection material for ocean-going vessels.
